autumn leaves bring autumn’s sneeze
and heavy labored breath
autumn breeze the season’s tease
will coax me back to bed
birds they heed, shiver! they flee
the sight – i’m filled with dread
autumn please, when will you leave?
perhaps i’ll go instead!
through the trail my muddy boots
give wake to fearful creatures
but on that trail i find myself
gaze up at autumn’s features
orange and gold the hues of old
a cozy chilly morning
oh, this view i now behold
it’s nature’s summer mourning
now clear to see, despite my heaves
the price i pay for fall
autumn leaves i misconceived
a sneeze was worth it all
